Heiniger Workshop: Inspiration, Expertise and Fresh Ideas

The week at the Alexandar Cosmetics Education Centre began with the Heiniger workshop. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when uncompromising Swiss quality meets a genuine passion for hairdressing, this event provided the perfect answer.

For those familiar with the industry, Heiniger needs no introduction. This Swiss powerhouse has built a worldwide reputation for its premium grooming equipment. The impressive opening video presentation perfectly illustrated why Heiniger continues to set the standard. Heiniger presented not only its extensive product portfolio, but also its clear vision for the future. The brand aims to set the benchmark for premium-quality tools designed for professionals working with both human and animal hair.

What makes this story truly remarkable is the fact that Heiniger has remained a family-owned company. Despite its international success and global network of partners, the business is now proudly led by the third generation of the Heiniger family. What began more than 80 years ago has grown into a globally recognised brand, while staying true to its core values. Over the decades, its production capacity and global reach have continued to expand. Yet its core mission has remained the same: to provide outstanding working conditions and create products renowned for their exceptional quality.

During the presentation, the company also highlighted its commitment to sustainability. This includes reducing plastic in its packaging and adopting environmentally responsible energy practices across its production facilities.

Following the introduction to the brand’s philosophy, the workshop continued with a hands-on session. We had the privilege of learning from two internationally renowned educators and official Heiniger ambassadors – Robert Braid (Instagram: r.braid) and Liam Kenny (Instagram: theliamkenny). Drawing on more than a decade of experience in hairdressing and barbering, they demonstrated advanced cutting techniques. Throughout the demonstrations, they relied on the Sirius and Tauro clippers, highlighting their precision and outstanding performance.

The guest educators emphasised that, in today’s hairdressing industry, working efficiently has become essential. For years, they explained, they had been searching for tools capable of keeping pace with the demands of the profession until they discovered Heiniger. According to them, the brand met every one of their professional expectations.

During the practical demonstration, Liam Kenny presented the capabilities of the professional Sirius clipper in detail, highlighting its power, consistency and high performance. He introduced the different blade types – from straight and hybrid to curved – explaining how each performs in practice. He also highlighted the importance of selecting the right blade to improve efficiency in the salon and deliver the best possible results for clients. While demonstrating the Sirius clipper’s capabilities, Liam also shared insights into his cutting techniques, highlighting its two operating speeds and long-lasting battery. He also explored the latest hairdressing trends currently shaping the UK market.

Robert Braid, on the other hand, focused his presentation on taking an individual approach to every client. He pointed out that haircutting and men’s grooming trends vary significantly from one country to another. He also highlighted a common mistake in professional practice. Many stylists overlook the natural shape of the client’s head in favour of blindly following trends. According to Robert, accurately assessing the head shape – whether triangular, square or round – is essential for creating a well-balanced haircut. He also demonstrated techniques for shaping and grooming the beard to enhance and define the client’s facial features.

Following a short refreshment break, the workshop continued in an interactive format. Our partners, hairdressers and friends had the exclusive opportunity to try the Sirius and Tauro clippers for themselves on live models and training heads. The hands-on session encouraged lively discussions with the educators, creating an excellent level of interaction. What began as a presentation soon evolved into a dynamic exchange of ideas and professional experience in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

To further enhance the interactive experience, every attendee received a welcome gift. The workshop concluded with the presentation of three special prizes to the most engaged participants.
