Bathing Dogs is a Mandatory Part of Pet Care

Bathing dogs is an integral part of caring for pets. They are a part of our lives, they give us love every day, and the least we can do for them is to feed and nurture them regularly.

Today, there are a large number of salons for the care and beautification of pets, which offer service and self-service bathing of animals. With a little patience, you can do this job at home. In our offer, you will find animal grooming equipment that you need for bathing dogs. Animals are more relaxed in the presence of their owners and that is one of the reasons why you should bathe them yourself. Also, during this activity, a greater connection and closeness between the owner and the pet develops.

The most important reasons for regular dog bathing

  • Removal of dirt and dirt that remains on the hair.
  • It prevents the occurrence of allergic reactions, due to the accumulation of pollen and other particles on the animal’s fur.
  • Irritations and itching are kept to a minimum.
  • Unwanted and unpleasant odors are neutralized.
  • The health and appearance of the dog’s fur and skin is improved.
  • Shedding and hair loss are reduced, as well as the spread of dirt around the house.

Although dogs love water, bathing is not exactly their favorite activity. However, if you start to get your pet used to shampoo and proper care in time, this procedure can be real fun. The first bath should be at an early age. Puppies are easier to train and adapt to the requirements of the owner, so later you will have less problems to “make” the dog to be calm during bathing.

How often do you need to bathe your dog?

Cleaning and care of pets should be maintained regularly, regardless of whether they stay indoors or in the yard all the time. However, bathing dogs should not be too frequent, especially in winter. Bathing too often dries out the skin and washes away the natural fat from the hair, which the animals need to protect them from too much cold and moisture.

There is no universal answer to the question of how to find the right measure. How often you should bathe your pet depends on many factors, and breed is one of the crucial ones.

Short-haired dogs should be bathed at least once to twice a year. If the dog usually stays indoors, you are free to follow this rule. Dogs that spend time outside, play in the dust and mud will probably need more frequent bathing.

Long-haired and curly-haired dogs require more frequent bathing and regular brushing. For them, bathing once a month is recommended.

Preparing for the bath

Before you start, prepare towels to wipe the dog after bathing. If you skip this part, you risk that your bathroom and the whole house will be wet, because dogs like to “shake off the body” to remove excess water.

Before bathing, it is important to brush the fur well and comb the tangled hair. This step is mandatory, regardless of the dog’s breed. Use combs and animal brushes to gently remove fallen hair and remove larger dirt. Dogs need to be brushed after bathing and drying, so that the hair is neatly arranged and given extra shine.

In the warm months, you can bathe your dogs outside, and in the winter, it is best to fill the tub with lukewarm water. For smaller dogs, you can also use a tub of the appropriate size.

Animals do not like loud noise and too strong a jet of water from the shower. To prevent the dog from being further frightened, adjust the volume of the jet and the water temperature before starting the bath.

Shampoos for bathing dogs

Special shampoos are used for bathing dogs. Animals and humans do not have the same pH value of the skin, so cosmetic companies have designed special products for cleaning and caring for pets.

After thoroughly wetting the coat, apply the shampoo evenly to the dog’s entire body, starting at the tail and paws, toward the head. In this step, as well as when rinsing, take care that the shampoo and water do not get into the dog’s eyes and ears. Gently massage the product into the fur to create foam and leave it to act for a few minutes. After that, rinse the shampoo well with clean water, starting from the head, to the paws and tail. If the hair is very dirty, repeat the washing procedure.

This is followed by drying and then brushing. Wipe the whole fur well with a towel and dry the hair. When the fur is completely dry, brush the dog to give the coat extra shine.

Extracts of strawberry, chamomile, ginger, sage, and aloe improve the quality of the skin and hair, leaving a pleasant scent. This shampoo can be diluted with water in a ratio of 10: 1.

For dogs with sensitive skin, you should use gentle and mild, odorless formulas. Shampoo for dogs with sensitive skin does not cause skin irritations or tears in animals. It contains aloe extract, which has a soothing effect on the skin. It can be used diluted with water in a ratio of 12: 1.

Shampoo for dogs with heavily soiled hair thoroughly and effectively removes grease and dirt from the skin and fur of pets. It leaves a pleasant smell, does not damage the dog’s skin and coat, and does not remove essential oils from the coat. It softens the fur and makes combing easier. Shampoos for specific breeds

Hair color greatly influences the choice of shampoo. To give your dog maximum care with the best results, choose a product that meets the specific requirements of the breed.

For dogs with black and dark hair, we recommend OSTER Black Pearl shampoo with extracts of blackberry, black walnut, and aloe, which gently cleanse, regenerate and refresh the natural hair color. The result is soft and shiny fur.
