Lip Pencils – Indispensable in Today’s Makeup

Lip pencils are becoming more and more popular, so they are indispensable in every makeup bag today. Not only do they make the lips more beautiful and alluring, but they complete the look. A quality lip pencil will make your lips full, and at the same time, if used in combination with lipstick, will provide longer durability.

Using a pencil with makeup alone does not require much skill, and with a few basic rules, your lips will look beautiful.

How to Use Lip Pencils Correctly

Whether you use a pencil only to draw contours, or instead of lipstick, it is important to follow the basic rules.

  • Take care of your lips regularly, so that they are not dry and chapped.
  • First, apply a lipstick base, which will create a flat surface for easier application of the pencil.
  • For a more natural look, without rough lines, avoid too sharp pencils.
  • To be able to see and follow the hand movements, apply the pencil at an angle of 45 degrees.
  • The lips should be slightly open so that you can see the exact beginning and end of the line.
  • Follow the natural shape of the lips – the trace of the pencil should not exceed the contours of the corners of the lips.
  • Uses short and light strokes for application.
  • Avoid thick layers of pencil application.
  • Use a concealer to cover any drawing errors.
  • For a longer-lasting effect, use a waterproof lip pencil with high pigmentation.

Choosing the Right Lip Pencil

Before you start applying makeup, it is important to know what you want to achieve with your makeup look. Today, there is a large assortment of lip pencils, and they can be used alone or with lipstick.

Not every lip liner is suitable for every makeup. Apart from quality and colors, pencils also differ in texture. There are hard and soft ones. The first ones are intended for drawing the contours of the lips, while the softer ones are desirable to use as a lipstick base, and can also be worn on their own.

The Perfect Combination: Lip Pencil and Lipstick

Lip color is an absolute hit in the beauty world. The contouring technique is not difficult to master, it only takes a little practice and a few tricks. Unlike contouring faces, drawing lip contours does not involve shading.

Professional makeup artists use pencils with a harder texture to apply precise lines and combine them with lipstick or lip gloss. In addition to making your lips look nicer and fuller, the pencil will keep the lipstick within the drawn borders.

Lip pencil and lipstick are a perfect combination. It is best to use a pencil that is a shade darker than lipstick or gloss. If you want to avoid beginner mistakes, do not use a lip pencil that is extremely darker than the color of lipstick. An extremely dark pencil creates an older look.

Rough lines on the outer edges of the lips are not desirable. To prevent lips from looking rough, sharpen the lip pencil, and then gently rub the tip of the pencil with your fingers. This will make the pencil glide easier and leave softer marks.

The line of the pencil must not exceed the boundaries of the lips. If you are not good at drawing precise lines, don’t worry. Concealer is the right and quick solution.

Lip Pencil as a Base

In addition to contouring, the lip pencil can also be used as a base. For longer-lasting lipstick, professionals recommend filling the lips with a pencil, before applying lipstick. The lip liner will preserve and enhance the intensity of the lipstick color.

It is important to take care of the way and amount of pencil application. As with contouring, it is first necessary to draw the edges from the middle, towards the corners of the lips. Then, with gentle pencil movements, fill in the inside of the lips and apply lipstick.

Lip Pencils Instead of Lipsticks

Lip pencils have a different structure than lipsticks and are therefore more durable. Such a formula makes the pencil ideal for self-application. In addition, it is practical to wear and will not “melt” at high temperatures.

Softer and creamier lip pencils are suitable for alone use because they are more compact than lipsticks. For a dazzling look, the pencil must have long durability and high pigmentation.

How to Choose the Right Shade

The color palette of lip pencils today is extremely rich: from gentle and nude shades, all the way to bright and dark colors. Choose the color depending on the occasion for which you are getting ready and the effect you want to achieve. If you use lipsticks every day, then choose a pencil that most resembles the shade of your favorite lipstick.

The basic rule is to think about the color of the lipstick. The lip pencil should not be flashy, nor should it differ too much from the color of the lipstick, experts advise.

Nude Shades for Fuller Lips

Nude lip pencil and lipstick create fuller lips and can be easily combined with the rest of the makeup. They are a great choice for both day and evening looks. In addition, these colors are good for people who are not skilled enough in drawing lips, because mistakes are less noticeable and can be corrected more easily.

Before applying lipstick, apply a lighter pencil on the arch of the lips, and then fill the lips with the appropriate lipstick. Lips will also look fuller with orange and pink tones. With these colors, thin lips will be more attractive.

Natural Look

If you want a subtle and natural look, forget about bright colors. To make your lips look as natural as possible, choose a shade of pencil and lipstick that is most similar to the color of your lips. For beautifully made-up lips, the pencil must follow the natural shape.

The pencil in the natural color of the lips is best worn during the day and can be combined with mascara and a mild blush. For a more radiant look, you can finish off your lips with gloss.

Evening Look

For evenings, intense colors are not only allowed but also very desirable. To give the lips more volume, use a rose-colored pencil. It is important that the shade of the pencil does not deviate much from the color of the lipstick, but that it is almost imperceptible.

You can experiment with different darker shades of lip makeup for night outs, but then take care of how you will make up your eyes.

Ombre Look

The Ombre dyeing technique first dominated hair salons, but it quickly spread to makeup. The strongest effect of seductive lips is achieved with this make-up technique. This kind of makeup requires a little skill because it requires combining at least two colors. This look can be used both during the day and for night-outs, depending on the basic color of the lipstick. The essence is that the color of lipstick gradually “changes” from darker to lighter, or from lighter to darker.

Creamy lip pencils are a great “tool” for achieving an ombre effect. They can be used to emphasize both the outer and inner edges of the lips. All that matters is that they are the color of the base lipstick. Although pencils and lipsticks of darker colors visually reduce the lips, it is allowed to use them for a more complete ombre effect.

For a more eccentric and bold look, you can play with shades and combine different colors, such as purple and yellow. Your lips will surely be noticed!

The lip liner will highlight naturally beautiful lips as the best trump card, make thinner lips fuller, and cover imperfections. That is why this makeup product is something that every girl and woman should include in their makeup kit and daily makeup routine.
