Eyebrow Tinting – Cosmetic Treatment That You Can Do Yourself

Lately, eyebrow tinting has become a very popular treatment in beauty salons, as dark and accentuated eyebrows are in trend. Thanks to this simple and painless treatment, light and thin eyebrows become dark and visually thicker in 10 minutes. With very little skill, patience and our advice, you can easily master this technique.

Eyebrow tinting involves darkening the natural colour of hairs, for extremely light or grey eyebrows. Although they work in a similar way, eyebrow tints are different from classic hair dyes. These products are intended for colouring hairs on the face and can usually be applied to both eyebrows and eyelashes. Unlike hair dyes, they are available in a much smaller number of shades. For the first two days after the treatment, the eyebrow tint may look much darker than desired (as with freshly dyed hair). Due to daily washing, the tint will fade slightly and reach the perfect shade.

The results of eyebrow tinting last for several weeks, depending on a number of factors:

  • quality of the products used for eyebrow tinting;
  • method of application of the treatment (proper compliance with the instructions for use);
  • the eyebrows themselves, or the ability of the hair to absorb colour;
  • care and maintenance of tint after the treatment, and (non) use of certain products for styling eyebrows;
  • external factors and exposure of eyebrows to various negative influences (too low / too high temperature, sunbathing and UV radiation, increased humidity…).

Eyebrow Tinting Step-by-Step

Although eyebrow tinting is usually reserved for cosmetic salons, you can also perform this technique yourself. It is important to follow the instructions given by the manufacturer. We present you the basic steps below.

  • Sensitivity test

Since the colours are applied to the face and a very sensitive area around the eyes, 48 hours prior to using the eyebrow tint, be sure to do a sensitivity test on the product.

  • Preparation for eyebrow tinting

First prepare everything you need for work: tint, hydrogen, gloves, non-metallic bowl, brush for mixing and applying tint and cotton pads for removing colour.

Before tinting, thoroughly clean your eyebrows (remove makeup and dirt, wash and towel dry your face). To prevent staining of the skin around the eyebrows, you can apply a greasy cream.

  • Making the mixture

In a non-metallic bowl, mix the tint with three percent hydrogen with a brush to get a creamy mixture. It is necessary to adhere to the proportion that is defined for a specific product. Usually, it is necessary to mix 1-2 cm of tint with 10 drops of hydrogen.

  • Applying eyebrow tint

The prepared mixture is applied to the eyebrows with a brush and left to act for 5-10 minutes. This time depends on the specific product, but also on the desired intensity of the tint. If you want a stronger colour, leave the tint to act for about 10 minutes, and if you want a less intense shade, remove it from your eyebrows after five minutes.

  • Removing eyebrow tint

Cotton pads and water are used to rinse off eyebrow tint. Simply moisten the pad with warm water and gently wipe your eyebrows. If necessary, to remove excess tint from the area around your eyebrows, you can use Apraise Skin Stain Remover.

What Are the Best Eyebrow Tints

To make eyebrow tinting as effective as possible, and the results lasting, it is important to choose tints that are of high quality and that will not wash off after a few days. To achieve a more natural look, make sure that the shade is not drastically darker than the colour of your natural eyebrows. Here is our recommendation of products, for which we have very positive impressions from users.

Apraise Eyebrow and Eyelash Tints are extremely creamy and enriched with beeswax. The colours are intense, long-lasting, waterproof and do not smudge. The colour lasts up to eight weeks after properly performed tinting treatment. Several shades are available in the offer, and these colours can also be used for eyelash tinting. For proper treatment, it is recommended to mix this dye with hydrogen of the same brand (2 cm of dye and 10 drops of 3% colour developer).

Blush Set for Eyebrow and Eyelash Tinting contains everything you need for this treatment: tint (colour), colour developer (hydrogen 3%), graduated plastic bowl for mixing products and double-sided brush for application. The product is available in three shades: black, brown and light brown. The tints are made of 100% vegan ingredients and are extremely intense and lasting. They do not contain ammonia and PPD (p-phenylenediamine), which makes them suitable for use by people who are allergic to these ingredients. They are very easy to apply, deeply penetrate the hairs, effectively cover grey hairs, and the results last up to four weeks. An additional advantage of these colours is that they are recommended for application on both eyebrows and eyelashes, so you can easily achieve the same shade of hair with a completely natural effect. Proper application involves mixing 1-2 cm of eyebrow and eyelash dye with 10 drops of hydrogen.

Eyebrow Tinting – Trend or Necessity

Eyebrow tinting is not a novelty in the cosmetic world. This treatment has been practiced for years in professional beauty salons. Many women and men have tinted their eyebrows long before social networks appeared thanks to which this treatment has recently become popular.

Dark and thick eyebrows are currently “in fashion”, although this is a very changeable thing. When it comes to appearance, whether we are talking about dressing and fashion style, or the way of makeup, trends are constantly changing. Sometimes thin and almost imperceptible eyebrows are popular, sometimes finely shaped hairs of medium length, then long, thick and bushy eyebrows, and so on in a circle.

If you have thin, sparse and light eyebrows, and follow trends, know that eyebrow tinting has a significant advantage over some other beauty techniques. For example, unlike permanent makeup, the effect of this technique is not permanent. When light, thin eyebrows are back in fashion, you simply do not have to tint them anymore.

Anyway, everything is a matter of taste and personal choice, and one thing is certain – classic is an everlasting trend. Groomed, neat and precisely shaped eyebrows with a natural look will always be in fashion. Eyebrow tinting as a treatment is there to help us correct the little things that we are not most satisfied with. Thus, thin and light eyebrows can get the desired shade and look thicker, with a completely natural effect.

Do not forget, every eyebrow is beautiful just the way it is: completely natural, corrected with gel or pencil, drawn with some of the popular techniques of permanent makeup, or simply tinted in the desired shade. And so, whatever you choose, whatever style you nurture, be proud of your eyebrows.
