Gifts for Her and Him
Besides Christmas and New Year’s, Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular occasions for gift-giving. Although 14th February is traditionally when younger, romantic couples exchange gifts, it’s becoming increasingly common for friends to surprise each other with small treats on this day as well. Why not take advantage of Valentine’s Day and our discounts to delight everyone you care about? Here are a few of our gift suggestions.
Valentine’s Day Gifts for Your Girlfriend
There are a few simple guidelines to keep in mind when choosing a gift for your girlfriend, no matter the occasion. Consider the following:
- what she enjoys,
- whether you know what she would like to receive, and
- what she truly needs.
We’re confident that most girls and women will be delighted with high-quality makeup products. However, when buying cosmetics, there are a few details to keep in mind. No matter how well you know your girlfriend, avoid purchasing a foundation if you’re not sure which one she uses. Getting the shade even slightly wrong could leave her disappointed with the gift. Also, pay attention when choosing a lipstick colour – stick to shades you know she loves.

For a girlfriend with whom you’ve recently started a romantic relationship, we recommend choosing a gift that’s virtually foolproof. Eyeshadow palettes are always a good choice, especially when they feature attractive, vibrant colours, as most girls simply love them. With a gift like this, you can also include a creative card and a personal message to show her even more how much she means to you.
If you’re looking for the perfect gift for her, show her that you’ve put a little extra thought into your choice this time. A fantastic gift for a girlfriend or wife is a cosmetic case, where she can keep all her makeup, skincare products, nail polishes and beauty tools. Trust us, every woman needs a little extra space for her favourite cosmetics and accessories. She’ll love this gift so much that she’ll happily take it with her on trips. To surprise her even more, you can tuck in a few little extras: lipsticks, lip and eye pencils, sheet masks, nail files, and more.
Her Ideal Fragrance
Perfumes are always an excellent gift for a woman, no matter her age. When choosing one, it’s helpful to know which scent notes she prefers. If you’re not sure, trust your instincts and consider the key traits that describe your loved one. Is she gentle and romantic, or adventurous at heart? Perhaps she’s confident and bold? Choose the scent notes accordingly: for example, floral for gentle women, exotic or spicy for adventurers and woody notes for strong, assertive personalities.

Valentine’s Day Gifts for Your Boyfriend
When it comes to choosing a gift for the man you love, the task can be a bit trickier. It’s important to remember that men also appreciate high-quality grooming products, which they often find difficult to pick out for themselves. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to help your boyfriend find the right men’s cosmetics. Here are a few of our gift ideas.
If he can’t imagine leaving the house without a freshly shaved face, aftershave lotion makes an excellent gift. You can be sure he’ll use it every day. Consider which scent notes he prefers and whether he has any specific requirements when it comes to these products.
If your loved one has a long, thick beard, he’s no doubt faced the challenges of grooming and detangling it more than once. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show how much you appreciate his style. Gift him the 3ME Gentlemen’s Barber Club wooden beard brush, made from a combination of natural bristles and high-quality synthetic fibres. The bristles glide easily through a thick beard from root to tip, effectively detangling knots and removing impurities.

Valentine’s Day Fun Facts
Although Valentine’s Day was originally dedicated to Saint Valentine, celebrated by both the Protestant and Catholic churches, it has recently become popular worldwide. Many cultures observe it in their own way, with flowers and chocolates among the most common symbols. Reflecting different customs for expressing love and affection, this holiday is celebrated in various ways across the globe.
In addition to Valentine’s Day, February 14th is also celebrated as Saint Tryphon’s Day in Serbia and other Orthodox countries, honouring the patron saint of vineyards. There are numerous traditions associated with this day, the most well-known being a visit to the vineyard to prune the vines and water them with wine, ensuring a fruitful year. In recent years, many couples have combined the most cherished customs of both the Orthodox and Catholic celebrations, celebrating love with wine and the exchange of romantic gifts.
In the Philippines, thousands of couples traditionally gather in public squares to get married or to renew their vows on 14th February. Similar celebrations take place in many cities around the world, where couples compete to break the Guinness World Record for the longest kiss.
In Japan, on 14th February, only men receive gifts – and they are usually chocolates. Every year, women in Japan give beautifully wrapped chocolates, boxes of sweets and other treats to their boyfriends, husbands, friends, colleagues and male family members. Men reciprocate in a similar way exactly one month later, giving white chocolate treats. This tradition in the Land of the Rising Sun began in the mid-20th century. Thanks to a confectionery company’s advertising campaign, the Japanese embraced this Christian holiday and the practice of gift-giving. Not only that, the company cleverly positioned its products as the ideal Valentine’s Day gift through smart marketing.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Europe
In Finland, Valentine’s Day is a celebration of friendship. Cards are written, chocolates are given and gifts are exchanged among family members and close friends.
Since the last decade of the 20th century, Valentine’s Day has also been celebrated in Denmark, in a typically Scandinavian way. Instead of red roses, Danes give what is called a “snowflake” – a pressed white flower.
If you think Paris is one of the most romantic places to celebrate Valentine’s Day, you might be mistaken. For couples planning a romantic getaway for the holiday of love, we have an even better suggestion – and it’s also in France. About 260 kilometres from Paris lies a small village in the Indre region, aptly named Saint-Valentin.
Every year, the village hosts a three-day festival of love, decorated with flowers and filled with visitors. Many couples plant trees in the local park, hoping they will bloom and grow alongside their love. Lovers also leave their vows hanging from the tree branches. A special attraction is sending love letters from the Saint-Valentin post office.
In some parts of England, an old tradition has survived in which women place five bay leaves, previously soaked in rosewater, under their pillows on the eve of Valentine’s Day. It’s believed that this will cause their future husband to appear to them in their dreams.
In Italy, romantic dinners are prepared for Valentine’s Day, poetry is read and the traditional gifts are exchanged. At the statue of Juliet in Verona, thousands of love messages are written. Those who have not yet found their love write letters to Juliet, hoping she will help them find their soulmate.
