Darsonval is a device that uses high-frequency, low-voltage current for cosmetic and therapeutic skin treatments. They are named after their inventor, the French physiologist Jacques-Arsène d'Arsonval.
In cosmetics, Darsonval devices are used for:
Cosmetologists use electrical current as a form of electrotherapy to directly massage the facial skin for about five minutes. High-frequency (HF) current generates heat that helps relax tense nerves. High-frequency electrotherapy is most commonly used in facial treatments for individuals with oily and acne-prone skin.
In addition to the direct method, a tapping technique is also used. A glass electrode is applied to the skin intermittently, and as it is lifted, a series of small sparks appear. These stimulate the surface tissue, enhancing microcirculation and helping to reduce inflammation.
