One of the most popular groups of acids used for cosmetic purposes are alpha hydroxy acids, commonly known as AHA acids. They are often referred to as fruit acids, as they are most commonly derived from fruits. The most well-known types of AHA acids are: glycolic, lactic, malic, citric, tartaric, and mandelic (almond) acid.
