The 5-Free Label

The 5-free label in cosmetics indicates that a product is formulated without five substances commonly considered potentially harmful in nail polish formulations, especially when used in higher concentrations or over long periods.

A 5-free formula means the product does not contain:

Formaldehyde;
Toluene;
Camphor;
Xylene;
Triphenyl phosphate (TPHP).

This term is most often used for nail polishes and nail care products and signals a more carefully formulated product with a lower risk of irritation or adverse reactions.
